APOCALYPSE Vanadis 4 Extra Apocalyptic
TL;DR
Vanadis 4 Extra has a cult following among users who value cutting feel over stainless convenience. Independent toughness testing places it near the top of the powder tool-steel class, and long-running BladeForums threads describe an edge that pushes through cardboard and rope well past where most stainless steels dull — provided the owner accepts patina and keeps it oiled.

The Story
Sweden's Uddeholm built Vanadis 4 Extra for industrial cold-work tooling — punches, dies, and shears that face millions of cycles without failure. Knife makers discovered it was also one of the most extraordinary cutting steels ever produced: a wear-resistance monster with shockingly high toughness.
“Vanadis 4 Extra is not for the safe. It is for the knife that will be used, kept, and handed down.”
